What is an SSL Certificate?

If you’re doing business online, you need Secure Sockets Layer protection. SSL locks down your site visitors’ sensitive data against fraud and identity theft. An SSL certificate provides encryption (scrambling of data to prevent tampering during transmission) and validation (verification of the business behind the website), and the end result is customer trust. When visitors to your website see that you have SSL protection, they know your business is trustworthy and they can purchase with confidence because your site is secure.

Validation Types

Domain Validation

Domain-level validation is the most basic type of SSL. These certificates are generally the least expensive, and even the lowest-priced DV cert provides validation in addition to encryption. This is the ideal way to secure your blog or basic personal site.

Price range from Php2,500 – Php10,000 per year. Price depends on SSL certificate type (single domain, wildcard or multiple subdomains, multiple domains), security assurance (low, medium, high) and warranty amount for fraudulent use.

Organization Validation

Organization-validated SSL certificates include authentication of the business or organization behind the domain, to provide a higher level of assurance for your customers. OV certificates are great security for e-commerce sites and other sites that take in customer info.

Price range from Php3,500 – Php30,000 per year. Price depends on SSL certificate type (single domain, wildcard or multiple subdomains, multiple domains), security assurance (low, medium, high) and warranty amount for fraudulent use.

Extended Validation

Top of the line! With EV, the certifying authority conducts an in-depth examination of your business, for the highest degree of user trust. Only EV gives you the familiar “green bar” – ideal for e-commerce sites that collect sensitive customer data such as credit card numbers.

Price range from Php5,500 – Php45,000 per year. Price depends on SSL certificate type (single domain, wildcard or multiple subdomains, multiple domains), security assurance (low, medium, high) and warranty amount for fraudulent use.

Domains Secured Types

Single Domain

Single-domain SSL certificates provide security for a single fully qualified domain name.

Example: www.yourdomain.com, yourdomain.com, yourdomain.com/page1, yourdomain.com/page2

Wildcard

Wildcard SSL certificates provide security for all the same-level subdomains of a domain.

Example: subsite.yourdomain.com, auctions.yourdomain.com, subsite2.yourdomain.com

Multiple Domains

A multi-domain SSL certificate provides secured communications for multiple domains and multiple host names operating on different IP addresses.

Examples: yourdomain1.com, yourdomain2.com, etc.
